4 Ways the Google App Makes Healthy Living Easy | Mairead Callahan, RDN, CPT | Improving Health blog by CareATC, Inc.Smartphones are not only for texting and requesting uber rides, they help make healthy living easier too!

The newly improved Google App makes maintaining a healthy lifestyle simple, one voice-command at a time.

1. Get quick nutrition information and comparisons.

This is particularly useful if you are standing in the grocery store aisle and need to make a quick decision. Simply click the mic and say “nutritional value of (the food/drink you want to know about)” and you’ll be given both a spoken and a written answer, complete with all the nutrition information needed to make a healthy choice.

Use the word “versus” to get a side-by-side comparison of two foods. For example, say “sweet potatoes versus carrots” or “kale versus collard greens” and you’ll not only receive a spoken response, but also a side-by-side comparison of the nutrition facts!

2. Try new yoga poses in the comfort of your own home.

Click the mic and say the name of one of 100+ poses. You’ll receive the formal pose name, common pose name, photos of the pose, information about what muscles it strengthens and stretches, and much more. It’s like having a personal yoga instructor in your living room, but cost and intimidation free!

3. Find a convenient workout class.

Traveling or running errands, but want to take a fitness break? The Google App can help you find a nearby studio in seconds! Simply say, “find a nearby yoga studio” or “find the closest cycling studio” and you will have your answer in no time.

4. Learn a quick workout.

Want to do a quick workout, but unsure how to start? Just ask google! Say, “show me a 5 minute arm workout”, or “show me a ten minute total body workout” and google will direct you to a YouTube fitness video that fits your current exercise needs!

Download the Google App and start using its convenient health resources today!
