Can Human Resources Help Cure Our Healthcare Crisis? | Jeremy Cavness | HR Insights blog | CareATC, Inc.With an enormous shortage of qualified workers within the healthcare industry (7.2 million wanting, to be exact), human resources researchers are looking at the differences in HR strategy between high- and low-performing companies. A recent Oxford Economics survey has some insights into how Human Resources must evolve in the coming years.

There are currently five generations working in American healthcare. Healthcare providers have to contend with an aging workforce, while trying to expand globally. The most successful companies are demonstrating the ability to cultivate excellent leadership among their current employees.

Low-performing companies are more likely to have to seek leadership from without the company, or put off growth due to lack of skills and specialization.

Both high- and low-performers demonstrated limited focus on employee retention.

The survey includes many other findings, but it is clear that the big winners in the future of healthcare will succeed by finding, developing, and keeping the world's best talent, through the efforts of HR.
