Every now and then, it's good to take a minute to understand universal trends that HR experts are identifying.

In an Unum study, many new and familiar observations are laid out.

  1. Work flexibility is increasingly important across most industries.
  2. Employers must fairly treat an increasingly diverse and multi-generational workforce.
  3. Technology can be used to maintain productivity while allow employee freedom, as well as help communicate benefits.
  4. Mental health is an important focus, as employees deal with personal stresses and a complicated world.
  5. HR should communicate with other departments, like IT, to find out how best to communicate issues like benefits details and participation.

It can be hard to stay on the cutting edge of rapidly changing HR culture, but it's vital to give businesses a competitive edge.
