What is an HR Rockstar?

Have you ever met a person who just seems to draw people in? They walk into a room and all eyes seem to fall on them. People listen to their words, and people want to befriend them. They seem to have some sort of innate draw that can’t really be explained. These people are those in possession of the "rockstar" gene. They are people with natural charisma and an innate ability to make people feel comfortable and at ease. It is a great gift to have, but there is only a very small percentage of the population that appears to carry such a trait. People with the rockstar gene generally excel in human resource positions because of their innate abilities. If you were born with the skill set, then you are one of the lucky ones, but even if you weren't you can move forward and became a true HR rockstar. 

Predestined leadership, or the proverbial "rockstar gene," is just one way of going about becoming a rockstar within your industry. You are not precluded from being an HR rockstar, or any other kind of rockstar just because you didn’t spend your younger years engaging massive groups of people and forging your own path with a band of merry neighborhood kids following behind you.

So, what takes the average Joe & makes them an HR rockstar?

HR rockstars come in all shapes and sizes, they have a variety of different skill sets, experiences, educational backgrounds and personal knowledge. What makes a true HR rockstar is the ability to understand what it takes to really lead a group. HR rock stars are good at research, they love learning and they know how to interact with people from varied backgrounds. Thankfully, this is something that can be learned. For those interested in truly wielding the power of leadership benevolently, the skill set is relatively easy to pick up.
