  2. Great Skill at Negotiation. HR is at the crux of many negotiations and misunderstandings. It takes innate skill at conflict resolution and a lot of experience at interpersonal tact to make sure that all parties leave the negotiation table happy.
  3. Ability to Handle Complex "Grey" Areas. Not every HR decision is the application of procedure. Sometimes workplace issues fall into grey areas, and HR has to make judicious decisions based on discretion, especially when a specific policy does not exist.
