On-site health centers are becoming increasingly popular among employers looking for innovative solutions to combat rising healthcare costs.
In fact, based on the 2015 Employer-Sponsored Health Care Center survey by Towers Watson, 64% of employers have or are considering sponsoring a medical clinic in the near future.
Check out the infographic below from Towers Watson with several insights from this year's survey. Some that stood out to me in particular include:
- 66% of employers with employer-sponsored health clinics (ESHCs) are planning to expand services in 2016, and 38% expect to open additional locations by 2017
- Employers considering the ROI of their ESHC focus on savings related to acute care (77%), emergency room visits (70%), time away from work (61%), and specialty care (54%)
- Nearly 40% of those offering ESHCs do not charge for clinic services
