family-fitnessIt never fails – when starting new goals with a new found excitement, lack of energy is at its peak. Isn’t it ironic that when you finally decide to make a change in your life, you find that you have absolutely no energy to pick yourself up and take action?

Is it possible that having a vision of yourself after reaching your healthy goals provides you with just the drive you needed to start, but the very thought of the “getting healthy” process is so overwhelming that you can’t pick yourself up?

Maybe you want change in your life more than you ever have, but the very idea of having to make the insane amount of effort to get there is exhausting! This is where you have to decide what takes priority in your life. If it’s not your health then it’s just not your health, but if you were determined at the beginning of January then you should still be determined.

If you could dream of it once before then you should dream of it now! Whatever your health goal may be is good enough to stay your health goal and you should never turn your back on it! If you could muster up the energy to think about changing your lifestyle then, you can muster up the energy to make that change happen. Back to the problem originally stated – if energy is something you’re lacking, then energy is what you need to find!

3 Steps to Find Your Motivation

One key note to remember is that the healthier you live the more energy you will gain. However, it’s impossible to change bad habits overnight, which is why it’s important to start with one goal at a time. The main point here is that you need to gain some fuel so you can make changes in your life in order to meet your goals and become a healthier you. Here are a few things you can start with.

1. Prioritize Your Goals

Provide a detailed list to be read on a daily bases as a constant reminder of the changes you labeled as most important, making them top priority. Note beside each goal why it’s important and the benefits you will gain by achieving that specific goal.

Lists are always helpful! If exercise is your main goal, then it takes priority on your list.

2. Make Time

Begin weeding out the petty tasks you may have daily—mostly the things that are useless and take up time.

Maybe it’s a 30 minute sitcom that you’ve seen a million times but can’t seem to stop watching the reruns. Or maybe its phone chats that linger forever. Or maybe it’s a million and one things that you do on a daily basis instead of exercising and you label them as priority in your head…weed those out!

Seeing your agenda clear up a bit will allow free time to devote to your goals. Often times it’s not that we don’t want to meet our goals, its lack of time to devote to meeting our goals that’s the issue. Scratch off the insignificant things on your schedule and replace them with a few days of exercise. Having spare time will give you peace of mind.

3. Commit

Most importantly, the changes you are so determined to make happen won’t become a part of your life unless you stick with it. This is that point in your life where you have to allow your body time to adapt.

YOU have to schedule your goals on your calendar as if it were top priority, a task that must be met, like an event that must be attended. It’s YOU and only YOU that can make this change.

Set your goals, make your list, free up time on your calendar, and you have a start. Following these simple steps will help you find your motivation that will give you that extra burst of energy, which will help you reach your goals! Find your motivation!
